growing active followers of Jesus Christ and building his community
What is Per Capita?
Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church supports the national Presbyterian Church (USA), and the local Presbytery of the Inland Northwest through a financial contribution we call “Per Capita.” This contribution is shared between our local Presbytery (which receives a 74% majority) and the larger regional bodies. Per capita is about community, connection, support of other local churches, and support of the PCUSA.

The per capita rate is set by the governing bodies. That rate is shared with local congregations and members, allowing everyone to contribute to the work of the church throughout the PCUSA, to which they belong. For 2025, the per capita request to each church is calculated at $39 per member. This calculation allows each church to share equally in the financial responsibility. It is not a charge to members, just a calculation used to determine Hamblen’s share, which is $21,723 for 2025.
During the formation of the yearly HPPC budget, the per capita amount is shown as an expense for the church. To help offset this expense, the Session assumes that a portion of the per capita expense will be reimbursed by the congregation. The 2025 budget shows a reimbursement of 35.4% of the total per capita expense. In the past several years, approximately 25% has been donated by members of HPPC.
During Lent and throughout the year as well, we are asking each member to prayerfully consider contributing to help offset the overall expense to HPPC. Some members may not be able to help offset the per capita charge, but some may be able to contribute additional funds.
We are grateful that HPPC has been blessed with a congregation that gives generously, both in its financial giving but also of their time and talents. This blessing drives our mission in growing active followers of Jesus Christ and building his community. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
