Global Partnerships

Hamblen partners with PC(USA) Mission Co-Workers Richard and Debbie Welch as they work with education in the Alta Verapaz region of Guatemala.

With Richard and Debbie's help, we have committed to a three-year relationship with La Libertad Primary School in Coban -- funding a library and teacher training programs with donations from the congregation. Adults from Hamblen travel to Coban annually to visit the school, and the children of our church send and receive photos, cards, signs, videos, and bookmarks.

There are many ways to be involved in this mission partnership. Participate in a trip (speaking Spanish is an asset, but not required); give financially to the "Libros Para Niños" fund; pray for the partnership -- for the children and for the teachers. We not only hope to make a lasting difference in the lives of children as they learn to LOVE reading, we expect that our lives and perspectives will be transformed as well. Contact Mary Mattie at mattiemk@comcast.net for information about the 2020 trip!

Mission Trips

Mission trips are an excellent opportunity to put faith in action.  They are also incredibly formative experiences.  We offer mission opportunities for a variety of age groups.

Family (Intergenerational) Mission Trips

Each Memorial Day Weekend, Hamblen sends a group to Tall Timber Ranch (a Presbyterian owned camp near Leavenworth in central Washington).  The group spends the weekend preparing the camp for summer - cleaning cabins and the lodge, yard clean up and yard projects, etc.  We also spend time worshiping as a group and reflecting on God's work in our lives.  This trip is designed for all ages and is our child-friendly mission trip.  This is an excellent way to serve alongside people of all ages and to teach our children the importance of mission and service. The 2018 trip will be May 25 - May 28.  To get this year's registration form click here.
