Fourth through sixth graders are invited to participate in our acolyte ministry.  Acolytes contribute to worship at HPPC by lighting the candles on the chancel, assisting with offering, and helping clean up the sanctuary after services.  Training sessions, which happen at least once a year for students new to the ministry, explain the meaning behind the candle lighting and give students a chance to practice these roles.  Students who have completed a training session are able to volunteer as an acolyte for any Sunday worship service.  For more information, contact Kathy Williams at

Bite 2 Go

“Bite 2 Go” is a program administered through Second Harvest Food Bank to feed hungry children in our neighborhood on the weekends.  With money from the Deacons’ offering and from sponsors in our congregation, we pay for 20 children from Hamblen Elementary School to have a weekend's worth of shelf-stable food sent home each week during the school year.

Volunteers must be able to lift a 20 lb. box. Pick up food from Second Harvest between 9:00 AM and 12 noon on Thursdays, then deliver to Hamblen Elementary School. Volunteers may stay in their car and call the office 509-354-2900, or they may walk into the entryway of the building and buzz the office intercom for assistance.

If you have any questions, contact Karen Kelly at Thank you!

Coffee Fellowship Hosts

If you would enjoy helping to provide our church family with a welcomed cup of joe after services on Sunday mornings, we'd love for you to host Coffee Fellowship!

Duties: Make coffee; put juice in pitchers and cookies or doughnut holes on tray; set up a table outside by front door; serve after worship service and then clean up.

Written directions will be provided. Coffee, juice, tablecloth, and everything needed is supplied except the cookies or doughnut holes, which are supplied by you, the volunteer host.

Door Greeters

Would you be willing to greet and open the door for worshippers on Sunday morning? We are recruiting some friendly volunteers!

If you enjoy greeting folks at worship, you would make a great usher! Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled service start time to hand out the bulletin and be a friendly face to greet visitors.
