Fourth through sixth graders are invited to participate in our acolyte ministry. Acolytes contribute to worship at HPPC by lighting the candles on the chancel, assisting with offering, and helping clean up the sanctuary after services. Training sessions, which happen at least once a year for students new to the ministry, explain the meaning behind the candle lighting and give students a chance to practice these roles. Students who have completed a training session are able to volunteer as an acolyte for any Sunday worship service. For more information, contact Kathy Williams at kathylwms@gmail.com

“Bite 2 Go” is a program administered through Second Harvest Food Bank to feed hungry children in our neighborhood on the weekends. With money from the Deacons’ offering and from sponsors in our congregation, we pay for 20 children from Hamblen Elementary School to have a weekend's worth of shelf-stable food sent home each week during the school year.

Volunteers must be able to lift a 20 lb. box. Pick up food from Second Harvest between 9:00 AM and 1 PM on Thursdays, then deliver to Hamblen Elementary School. Volunteers may stay in their car and call the office 509-354-2900, or they may walk into the entryway of the building and buzz the office intercom for assistance. You can view full instructions and a map of Second Harvest HERE.
If you have any questions, contact Karen Kelly at kjkelly547@gmail.com. Thank you!
