CURRICULUM

During the school year the children will learn about themselves, others, and the world around them. In the preschool classroom, the teachers will be helping each child enjoy this learning process through a variety of methods: play, art, music, stories etc.

Each class will explore several broad areas of study geared to the interests of the three, four and five year old child.

Some of these areas are:

  • ALL ABOUT ME – SELF AWARENESS
  • ALL ABOUT SCHOOL
  • FAMILIES AND FRIENDS
  • FEELINGS / SOCIAL SKILLS
  • SEASONS & WEATHER
  • HOLIDAYS
  • HEALTH, NUTRITION AND SAFETY
  • LETTERS / NUMBERS / SCIENCE AND MATH
  • PEOPLE AT WORK AND AT PLAY
  • AWARENESS OF PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
  • DINOSAURS
  • COOKING AND BAKING
  • ART & MUSIC EXPERIENCE

FIELD TRIPS

Field trips are an exciting part of your child’s preschool experience. You will be notified of the monthly schedule of events through the Newsletter. Each child is required to have his/her car seat for field trips. Parents are always needed to transport ** and supervise children on these trips. However, to allow for best adult participation on these field trips, it is not advisable to bring other small children.

**All volunteers to drive children to field trips must have Washington State Patrol Criminal background check form approved PRIOR to the event.

SNACKS

In order to provide some variety for the children, each family will occasionally be asked to send snacks for their child’s class. We ask that our snacks be of a nutritious nature as some children have difficulties with sugary foods. We will be stressing healthy eating in our preschool curriculum.

 DISCIPLINE

Discipline is a very personal matter. Each child reacts differently to a given circumstance. Through listening and observing, we will encourage each child to take responsibility for their actions and encourage cooperation in the classroom. We will help the children deal with their feelings and find alternatives to unacceptable behavior.

SAFETY

According to the Preschool Policy, all children will participate in two Fire Drills and all staff will be knowledgeable of the Emergency Evacuation Procedure.
