Mission and Service

We at Hamblen understand that God is at work in the world — and as we make ourselves available to God in service, we join God in mission! Through this church, you will find opportunities for all ages to be at work in God’s mission together.

Our church partners financially with the following local organizations. Find out how you can serve!

Crosswalk, a downtown shelter for teenagers, run by Volunteers of America. Make and serve a meal at Crosswalk on every 5th Tuesday. Contact Bob and Bev Elmore.

Cup of Cool Water, a downtown ministry with street youth. Make and/or deliver sack dinners on the first Monday of the month. Contact Bea Pierce.

House of Charity, a homeless shelter run by Catholic Charities. Visit the House of Charity for conversation and Bible Study every Wednesday morning with a small group from Hamblen. Contact Jim Sipes.

Habitat for Humanity, an organization dedicated to providing safe and affordable housing. Work on a local Habitat house. Contact Bob Elmore.

Family Promise, an organization providing families temporary shelter in twelve area churches, helping them find permanent housing. Be a host for Family Promise the next time the families come to Hamblen! Contact Ron Clark.

Liberty Park Community Development Center, a ministry of the Presbytery that provides a preschool and after-school mentoring for children in the Liberty Park neighborhood. Contact Kristina Taylor.

Meals on Wheels, a ministry providing meal delivery to homebound seniors in our community. Contact Ron Clark.

Mission Community Outreach Center, a free clothing, household goods, and infant supplies bank serving the Mission Community neighborhood. Donate to the Outreach Center at any time by bringing goods to the donation bins located in the cupboards across from the Youth Room.

Westminster Food Bank, a food pantry in the West Central neighborhood of Spokane. Volunteer at the pantry on Wednesdays or Fridays (dates vary). Contact Helen Lofgren for more information or the church office to sign up.

A Bite 2 Go, providing weekend food packs for children in need at Hamblen Elementary School. Sign up to serve on our signupgenius site.

Big Table, a non-profit dedicated to caring for those who work in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Contact Diane Smith.

Free Rein, equips riders for life, through adaptive equine activities.  Contact Sandy Jones.

Hope House, serves homeless women, giving them a place to sleep and provides an opportunity for permanent housing.  Contact Helen Lofgren.

Shalom Ministries, serves the hungry and homeless in downtown Spokane.
